About Me

I've debated what to put here. On one hand, if you are reading this, you are asking who I am. On the other hand, the main reason I'm pulling back from social media is to protect my privacy.

So what do I put here? An honest recalling of past accomplishments.

Experience

Heather Dodds PhD Consulting

XR Research & Design Consultant

2018 - Present

I write things. I write things that others struggle to write. Like instructions. And the truth.

Chief Operating Officer

2020 - 2021

I thought I was volunteering with a group of like-minded XR-for-learning professionals. I was wrong.

Research Writer

2018 - 2019

I was honored to be substituted in for the great Barbara Truman to write about XR in STEM courses. I don't think I'll ever get over this gift she gave me. We never met.

Western Governors University

Program Manager, General Education Science & Math

2011 - 2018

I look back upon this time with greatest pride that it was my honor to offer a job to 30 people. I interviewed more than 150 people, but nothing compares with the joy of telling another human that they have a job. Then I received back the joy of working with them.

Yeah, I did other things like new course development, Department Chair of 22 math and science courses with over 20,000 student enrollments. But I'm most proud of the faculty teams that I hired and trained.

Science Faculty

2004 - 2011

I learned that it better to be honest than any other metric.

University of North Florida

Office Manager

2000 - 2004

I pushed invoices around. Not my favorite job.

BD Biosciences PharMingen

Research Librarian

1998 - 2000

My work felt inconsequential. I understood science and I could do library research. Therefore, I did the job. But the kudos go to the company. I've never worked for an employer that took better care of their employees. I still look back on this job with great fondness.

TC Analytics, LLC

Chemist

1996 - 1998

Professional sponge. Ask people that work in lab science with dangerous elements. It's what we do.

SUNY Potsdam

Special Assistant to Microbiology

1993 - 1994

I was overqualified but LOVED, LOVED, LOVED every minute of this job. There something about the smell of a good sterilization technique that can just make a person happy.
