I think there will be Metaverse or Internet citizenship within 5 years.  This will be a citizenship with rights and a passport that can be obtained by relinquishing a real world Earth-geography citizenship (it cannot be shared with a geographical citizenship). It will grant specific rights that will be highly valued and apply within virtual reality and/or cryptocurrency situations, but not outside of those.

Certainly it's not a unique idea. This is a direct pull from Tom Clancy's Net Force.

Just wanted to type that out so that I had a record of that.
